Amita joined Kedaara Capital in Feb 2023 to lead the initiatives in Human Resources and Organization Development across existing portfolio companies and new investments.
Prior to Kedaara Amita Maheshwari was the Head of HR for International Content & Operations (IC&O), APAC & India for The Walt Disney Company. She joined Star India in 2009 as part of the core management team of Star to head HR function. She diversified and upgraded the talent pool to drive organizational growth by defining the right HR and talent strategy, attracting the best and diverse talent from across industries and globe. She was leading a global team of over 250+ HR professionals supporting 6,500+ full-time employees across 27 countries. In her stint with Star and now Disney Star, she helped built the world-renowned and successful digital streaming business, Hotstar, making Star the first media conglomerate to launch a big scale OTT service. She also played a key role in multiple mergers and acquisitions for Star India like Maa TV, ESPN Star Sports, MediaPro, Star CJ etc. Amita with her team has been integral in setting up teams to rapidly launch and scale Disney+ in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan and Disney+ Hotstar in India, Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia.
In her 27 years of career journey, apart from Star and Disney, she has worked with diverse and large companies like Asian Paints, GE Capital, Genpact, Metlife and has played a key role in growing and shaping these organizations across multiple countries.
She serves as a Member of the HR committee at the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce (FICCI, India’s oldest and most reputed business forum).
Amita was awarded the HR Leader of the Year 2021 by Economic Times (ET Prime Women Leadership Awards). She was also awarded the Most Influential Women in HR 2022 by BW Business World.
Her passion for giving has led to her being on the Board of Care India, an International NGO, working for marginalised women and girls, disaster relief and building sustainable health care infrastructure at the grassroot level. She also serves on the board of People Matters, an HR Tech company.
Amita is an Electronics & Telecom Engineer from NIT, Patna, with a Master’s in Human Resources
from XLRI, Jamshedpur.
