Vindi Banga
Vindi Banga is a Partner at CD&R, one of the world’s leading private equity firms. Since its inception in 1978, CD&R’s investment approach has been blending skilled investment judgement with world-class operating capabilities to build stronger, more profitable businesses. At CD&R, Vindi has been Chair of the board of several portfolio companies (Kalle GmbH, Diversey, Inc, Mauser Group) and leads CD&R’s global ESG initiative.
Vindi joined the London office of CD&R in 2010 after a distinguished 33-year career at Unilever. At Unilever he served as President of Home and Personal Care (Asia) division, and Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Unilever Ltd (Unilever’s operating company in India), and was a member of the Unilever plc’s Executive Board. He led the creation of One Unilever Global Foods, Home & Personal Care Global Category Organisation, responsible for innovation and marketing mix development across 170 countries for all 270 Unilever brands, and was responsible for Unilever’s sustainability agenda. Vindi served on the Prime Minister of India’s Council of Trade & Industry from 2004 to 2014.
Vindi is currently the Chair of Haleon plc, Chair of Council at Imperial College London, and Chair of U.K. Government Investments (UKGI). He is a Non-Executive Director on the Board of The Economist Group, and a Board Member of The International Chambers of Commerce (UK Chapter). He is a Commissioner with the Global Commission on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking.
Vindi previously served on the Boards of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) plc, Marks and Spencer plc, The Thomson Reuters Corporation, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, and was Chair of palliative care charity, Marie Curie.
Vindi holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Delhi), and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (Ahmedabad). In 2010, Vindi was awarded the Padma Bhushan, one of India’s highest civilian honours, by the then President of India.
