Cyber Awareness

Our Commitment to Investor Security

We maintain robust cybersecurity controls, including secure investor portals, transaction monitoring, and data protection measures aligned with regulatory expectations. Investor awareness remains a critical aspect of our overall security.

With the increasing adoption of digital platforms in investment management, investors in Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs) must remain vigilant against evolving cyber threats. Protecting your financial information is critical to ensuring the safety of your investments.

Common Cyber Risks –

  1. Impersonation of Fund Managers
Fraudsters may pose as representatives of registered AIFs to solicit investments or sensitive information.
  2. Fraudulent Investment Schemes
Fake schemes promising assured or high returns in AIFs, often using forged documents or cloned websites.
  3. Email & SMS Phishing
Messages appearing to be from legitimate fund managers requesting login credentials, OTPs, or payment instructions.
  4. Unauthorized Payment Requests
Investors may receive fake bank account details for investment transfers, especially during onboarding or additional capital commitments.

Best Practices for Secure Investing

  1. Executing Financial Transactions only through Verified Channels
Ensure that all transactions are conducted through official banking channels and registered intermediaries.
  2. Verify Registration Status
Confirm the authenticity of the AIF with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) before investing.
  3. Validate Bank Account Details
Always verify fund transfer details directly with your relationship manager or through official communication channels.
  4. Use Strong Authentication Controls
Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for investor portals and email accounts.
  5. Avoid Sharing Confidential Information
Never disclose login credentials, OTPs, or sensitive financial details.
  6. Monitor Your Investments Regularly
Review account statements, capital account statements, and transaction alerts periodically.

Safe Digital Practices

  1. Access investor portals by typing the official URL manually.
  2. Check for secure HTTPS connections before logging in.
  3. Avoid conducting transactions over public or unsecured Wi-Fi.
  4. Use updated antivirus and security software on your devices.

Key Red Flags

  1. Any communication claiming “guaranteed returns” in market-linked products.
  2. Requests to transfer funds to personal or unverified bank accounts.
  3. Emails/SMS from domains that do not match official fund house websites.
  4. Unsolicited investment offers via social media or messaging apps.
  5. Urgent requests to complete transactions without proper documentation.

In Case of any suspicious activity,

  • Immediately inform your fund manager
  • Block or pause any ongoing transactions
  • Change your login credentials promptly
  • Report the incident to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In)
  • Lodge a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal
